Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard Featured in  Three of Missouri's 2014 Top Verdicts
Sandberg Phoenix attorneys achieved extraordinary results on behalf of our clients in 2014, recording three of the top 15 largest defense wins in the State of Missouri.
March 9, 2015, St. Louis, Missouri - Sandberg Phoenix’s Health Law Practice Group was recognized for tremendous success during 2014.  SPvG attorneys successfully defended clients against major medical malpractice claims.  In three Missouri cases alone, a total of $16.4 million was sought from SPvG clients.  Defense wins in each of those cases earned the firm recognition on Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s annual list of top defense verdicts.

In Bradshaw v. Mercy Clinic, attorneys Ken Bean and Bobbie Moon CNM, received a defense verdict for an OB–GYN defendant after a three week trial in Phelps County, Missouri. This was a highly complex obstetrical case, in which Plaintiffs alleged failure to obtain informed consent, failure to properly interpret fetal monitoring strips and failure to perform a timely caesarian section. With Plaintiffs seeking pecuniary damages of $13.46 million, the jury returned a verdict for the defense.

Attorneys Rodney Sharp and Dennis Harms successfully defended Meyers v McCarthy, another complex medical malpractice claim, in St. Louis County. In this case, the Plaintiff alleged a failure to diagnose and treat a benign spinal lesion, causing bladder and bowel incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Plaintiff’s counsel demanded the available insurance policy limits before trial. After rejecting the demand, our attorneys obtained a defense verdict from the jury.

Tullock v. Success Health Corp., et al involved a medical negligence/wrongful death claim against a client defended by John Sandberg and Sara Obermark. The Plaintiffs alleged the defendants failed to timely diagnose and treat an ascending aortic aneurysm after the decedent presented to the ER with complaints of abdominal pain. Our attorneys received a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of our client. The lowest demand from Plaintiff’s counsel was $2.2 million.
