Jill Lawrie and Gord McKee were once again named as leading product liability litigators in The Definitive Guide To The Leading Life Sciences Firms and Attorneys in North America (2014) and the Blakes Product Liability practice was also ranked as highly recommended in Canada. LMG noted “Jill Lawrie and Gordon McKee lead the firm’s well-respected product liability practice, which one competitor referred to as “possibly the deepest bench of product litigators in the country.”

Blakes was also honoured with five LMG Life Sciences Awards for 2014. The awards were presented at a ceremony held on September 17, 2014, at Essex House in New York.

Three of the awards were presented to the following individuals:

Alice Tseng – Canadian Regulatory Attorney of the Year
Gordon McKee – Canadian Product Liability Attorney of the Year
John Kolada – Canadian Financial & Transactional Attorney of the Year

As a firm, Blakes received the following two awards:

Canadian Regulatory Firm of the Year
Canadian Impact Deal of the Year (Argon Medical acquires Angiotech Pharma’s interventional portfolio)

Award recipients are determined on the basis of research conducted over the course of 2014, which primarily consists of feedback from clients or fellow legal practitioners. Results are also based on firm submissions that include representative cases and detail which attorneys have a life sciences focus and have made meaningful contributions to the industry and/or the practice of law.
