DAVID SCHULTZ FEATURED ON "ACCESS TO DEMOCRACY" REGARDING THE INNOCENCE PROJECT
David Schultz, partner in Maslon's Litigation Practice Group, was featured regarding his work with the Innocence Project on "Access to Democracy," a public access television program, on March 23, 2012. The Innocence Project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. David served on the Board of the Innocence Project of Minnesota for six years and has represented numerous defendants on death row.
Interviewed by host Alan Miller, David discussed the critical role the Innocence Project plays in the legal system, acknowledging the many challenges faced throughout the legal process and significant time volunteered by law firms, attorneys, law students, and many others to help such individuals find justice. David highlights two cases he has taken personally, involving appeals for exoneration—one still pending—and notes the inadequacies in the criminal justice system which can lead to wrongful convictions, including eyewitness misidentification, and improper forensic science.
