Ronald J. Hedges (formerly U.S. Magistrate, D.N.J.) of Nixon Peabody's New York City office will be a panelist on a September 12 webinar on the duty to preserve random access memory. The webinar, "Preserving Ephemeral or Transient Data in Litigation - The Impact of Columbia Pictures v. Bunnell", arose from a magistrate judge's decision in the Central District of California.

The decision has now been affirrmed by a district judge. The duty to preserve recognized by these decisions has raised a number of concerns about, among other things, the preservation of so-called ephemeral data.

The webinar, hosted by The Sedona Conference, will be on September 12 from 3:00 to 4:30 Eastern time.
