2005 Restricted Stock Awards Averaged $1 million!!!!!

Companies are using restricted stock to compensate and retain top-performing chief legal officers. Stock options remain an additional form of compensation (73 or 100 GCs surveyed were awarded options).

Sixty-one GCs on Law.com's list received some amount of restricted stock in 2005, and the average award rose by 35 percent, to nearly $1 million ($987,269), more than $250,000 higher than in 2004.

Bonuses remained one of the prime ways to reward GCs. The average bonus on Law.com's list of GC's was $906,820.
